The Dalles-Wasco County Library Foundation has taken another step toward making expansion plans for the library a reality. The organization just awarded a Portland architectural firm, FFA, the contract to do preliminary drawings for the four-thousand square foot expansion to provide more room for children’s and young adult services. The Hood River City Council will discuss whether to adopt a one-year moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries at a worksession during their April 14 meeting. Councilors discussed the subject after hearing from Hood River County Commission on Children and Families executive director Joella Dethman asking the City to adopt a moratorium to put rules in place. The Dalles City Council once again discussed medical marijuana dispensaries and whether to consider a one-year moratorium on those facilities. Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area officials are asking hikers to honor the closure of the historic Benson Bridge across Multnomah Falls to pedestrian traffic. Fencing closing off the bridge area was installed due to safety concerns following damage from a rock fall that occurred in early January. Klickitat County Commissioners have decided to expand a pilot program allowing additional dwelling units on properties to Lyle, Glenwood, Klickitat, Roosevelt, and Wishram.
