WS Council To Go Out For RFP On Park & Ride Location

The White Salmon City Council has decided to issue a request for proposals to lease a 2,500 square feet of property at the Park and Ride lot near the Hood River Interstate Bridge.  The City had received a $500 a month offer to lease the space for a recreational marijuana dispensary, but received testimony at a Wednesday night hearing from citizens questioning if that amount was a fair price.  Mayor David Poucher says an RFP process will enable a fair price to be established.  Some residents also questioned whether the state would pull funding from the Park and Ride if parking spaces are removed for the location of a building, but Poucher says they have never received a response from the state when the City notified them of the offer.  Poucher adds the Council does not have to grant a lease after the RFP process if it does not want to.
