The Dalles City Council will be getting a new ordinance dealing with dog control at a meeting in June. Councilors discussed the subject at their meeting last week. One area will involve starting to enforce the City’s dog licensing requirements. Mayor Rich Mays says there are only somewhere between ten to twenty dogs licensed in The Dalles right now. Mays says one of the reasons they are going through the ordinance now is the amount of animals at the Columbia Gorge Humane Society shelter. Another part of the ordinance that will go to the Council will be a leash requirement.
