The Dalles Public Works Department says some local residents are receiving a letter from several insurance companies trying to sell water line insurance.  The department says the Oregon Insurance Division confirmed three of the insurance companies involved are licensed to do business in the state.  The City is advising people who receive the letters to contact their own insurance agent to discuss whether you already have this kind of coverage and whether you need it, and before agreeing to anything read the contract language and note exclusions from coverage.  You can also contact the Oregon Insurance Division at 888-877-4894 with any concerns.
