Missing Hiker Found, Reunited With Family

A hiker missing since Sunday afternoon in the Warren Lake area after departing from the Starvation Creek trailhead was reunited with her family at the trailhead early Tuesday morning.  The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office says rescuers from the Hood River Crag Rats, the 304th Rescue Squadron and Multnomah County Search and Rescue were able to extricate Leslie Drapiza of Silverton from difficult terrain in the area of Lancaster Falls on Warren Creek.   She was then able to walk with rescuers down to the trailhead, arriving at approximately 1:35 a.m.  On Monday afternoon Drapiza had sent a text saying she was on Trail 413 in the area of Mt. Defiance.  Search teams had been looking for Drapiza since Sunday night.  Drapiza had been last seen by another hiker around 1 p.m. on Sunday, but the Sheriff’s Office said she was able to text a family member around 6:30 p.m. advising she was injured.  No details on the injury have been released at this time.
