U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development is providing funds for three projects in Wasco and Hood River counties to support business development and expansion through its rural business and development grants. Mid-Columbia Economic Development District is receiving $40,000 to be used to improve the viability of small- and medium-sized businesses in the Gorge, particularly Hispanic-owned businesses. The Next Door is receiving a $35,980 grant to support Latino small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs through its Promoting Prosperity Program. And Sustainable Northwest is receiving $44,000 to increase market demand for electric agricultural equipment in central Oregon through a partnership with the Wy’East Resource Conservation and Development District, Bonneville Environmental Foundation, and Forth. The Electric Tractor Demonstration and Analysis project will include Hood River, Wasco, Klamath, and Lake counties.
