Regional Airport Receives Federal Funds

Oregon Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden and Washington Congressman Dan Newhouse announced that the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport will be awarded over $2.9 million from the Federal Aviation Administration for airport infrastructure improvements under its Airport Improvement Program for fiscal year 2023.  The Dalles City Manager Matthew Klebes told City Councilors the funds coming to the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport will support the construction of a taxi lane and reconstruction of an apron.  Regional Airport Board Chair Jim Wilcox said this grant will update the facility to better serve heavier aircraft now frequenting the airport and provide vital infrastructure to allow for additional hangers to house the waiting list of people wanting to base their planes in Dallesport.
