The Port of The Dalles Commission has decided to move into phase two of development of the Columbia Gorge Industrial Center. Phase one got 50 acres ready for development, of which about half will be used by Google. Port Executive Director Andrea Klaas says this will get six lots adjacent to Chenowith Creek ready for business, and bring another 12 acres into the project. Cost of the project is estimated at about $950,000, with most of that cost being the fill material. Klaas says they are hoping to get the fill at a reduced rate to bring that cost down. She adds they are receiving a good deal of interest from businesses considering locating in the new industrial park.
