The Port of Hood River’s airport advisory committee will be studying operational changes over the next few months to help reduce noise impacts on nearby homes. That’s after a pair of recently held public meetings on the subject. Port Executive Director Michael McElwee says various possibilities will be discussed during the fall and winter, with some recommendations expected in March. McElwee says one possibility is to increase the pattern altitude to reduce decibel levels on the ground, and another is to vary the precise points of the approach of planes into the airport. The Federal Aviation Administration has to give its approval to some of the changes.
