The pilot of a single-engine airplane that was forced to make a crash landing on Wednesday afternoon north of Highway 14 near Jacob Williams Winery escaped without injury. Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer says 49-year-old Panat Thomas Pinit of Portland told officers that the plane’s engine quit, forcing him to land just before 3 p.m. Wednesday. Songer added the plane hit a ditch and flipped over on its top. Pinit was the only person on the plane, and was uninjured. Songer said information has been given to the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration for their investigation.
