One Injured In Highway 14 Accident

One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident involving a Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office vehicle on Wednesday morning.  According to the Washington State Patrol, the utility vehicle driven by 30-year-old deputy Keifer Smtih was traveling westbound on Highway 14 near Murdock just before 9:45 in the morning with lights and siren activated.  While passing a pickup in the eastbound lane, the pickup tried to make a left turn into a private driveway, leading to a collision.  The WSP says 37-year-old pickup driver Celso Arellano Diaz was taken to Skyline Hospital in White Salmon for treatment of his injuries.  Smith and two passengers in the pickup were not injured.  The Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office says Smith was responding to an emergency missing child call.
