NWPUD To Start Installing Smart Meters

Northern Wasco County PUD will begin installing Advanced Metering Infrastructure, or smart meters, throughout the district beginning on Monday.  It’s expected to take 10 to 12 weeks for the PUD’s meter technician contractor Anixter Solutions to get the bulk of the installations done.  Most customers should expect a brief power outage of less than 10 minutes while the meter is being replaced.  The meter installation technicians can be identified by a 12″ x 15″ white sign with black lettering located on the door of their vehicle that reads “CONTRACTOR  FOR NORTHERN WASCO COUNTY PUD”.   Installation technicians will attempt to contact customers that are home by knocking on the door before replacing the meter.  If no one is onsite, a door-hanger indicating that meter replacement is completed will be left to alert customers upon returning home.  The PUD does ask that meters be accessible for safe, proper and timely replacement.  If you have any questions, contact Northern Wasco County PUD at 541-296-2226.
