Klickitat County fire crews dealt with multiple grass fires late Monday afternoon and evening.  According to Klickitat County Emergency Management, at 5:25 Monday afternoon 9-1-1 operators began receiving calls from travelers reporting grass fires along Highway 97 from mile marker 20 to mile marker 44 north of the Klickitat/Yakima County line, with crews extinguishing over 20 spot fires.  At about 5:45 reports of additional grass fires on Highway 97 at Maryhill were reported, with units arriving on the scene reporting fire between the highway and the railroad tracks.  Multiple units from three fire departments responded to that location.  No evacuation notices were issued, and no structures were threatened.  The public is asked to be alert and call 9-1-1 to report any fires.
