There are Memorial Day observances planned throughout the region on Monday. In Wasco, a Memorial Day celebration begins at 10 a.m., including a parade, program, artisan’s market, car show, and more. There will be a ceremony at the memorial site at the viewpoint across from Sorosis Park in The Dalles at 11 a.m. presented by the American Legion Post 19, with assistance from VFW Post and Auxiliary 2471 and the Mid-Columbia Memorial Committee. Hood River’s Memorial Day observance begins at 11 a.m. at Idlewild Cemetery on 980 Tucker Road, with this year’s program highlighting the Nisei experience in Hood River and America. And there will also be a ceremony put on by the American Legion Evan Childs Post 87 at 12:45 p.m. at the White Salmon Cemetery. Everyone is welcome, with seating provided for the first 200 guests.
