Oregon Class 5A Softball Playoffs

First Round

Hood River Valley 8, St. Helens 0:  Makenzie Chambers and Haylee Baker homered while Lauren Decker pitched a shutout as HRV advanced to the quarterfinals.  Chambers got the Eagles going in the first inning with a two-run homer, while Baker homered and Molly Routson added a two-run triple in the fourth.  The Eagles will host Dallas, a 1-0 winner over Putnam in round one, for a quarterfinal game Friday at Westside.  Game time has not yet been announced.  The Eagles defeated Dallas 5-2 earlier this season.

Oregon Class 5A Baseball Playoffs

First Round

West Albany 6, Hood River Valley 3:  The Bulldogs scored four runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth inning, including four in a row with two outs, to end the Eagles’ season.  West Albany scored two runs in the first inning, but HRV came back to take the lead in the third when Caden Leiblien and Harrison Howell each had run-scoring doubles.   Hood River finishes the season with a 15-10 record.

Washington Class 1A Boys Golf Tournament

Goldendale’s Luke Gerchak shot an 83 in the final round on Wednesday at Olympia Country and Golf Club, moving him up nine spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 19th.
