Baseball

Hood River Valley 3, Canby 2:  Jake von Lubken scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning after a throwing error followed a Jordan Webber single.  HRV visits Midwestern League champion Thurston in round one of the Oregon Class 5A baseball playoffs on Tuesday.

 

Softball

Canby 9, Hood River Valley 7:  The Cougars scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull out the victory.

 

Southwest Washington Class 1A Softball Tournament

At Fort Borst Park, Centralia

Columbia 7, Stevenson 2

Columbia 6, Elma 2:  The Bruins grab third place in the tournament and advance to the Washington Class 1A tournament in Richland beginning on Thursday.

 

Track and Field

Hood River Valley’s girls placed fourth and the boys fifth at the Northwest Oregon Conference Championships in Hillsboro.  The Eagles’ Simone Tillman won both the girls’ 200 and 400 meters.  The HRV girls earned seven entries in this weekend’s state 5A meet at Hayward Field in Eugene, while the Eagle boys grabbed six.

 

The Dalles’ girls finished second to Crook County and the boys were fourth at the Tri-Valley Conference Championships in Madras.  The Riverhawks’ Zoe Dunn won both the girls’ long jump and triple jump, as The Dalles girls receive eight entries in the state 4A meet in Eugene.  Juan Diego Contreras won both the boys’ 1500 and 3,000 meters and Julian Morehouse the pole vault to help the Riverhawks grab five entries for the boys’ half of the state meet.

 

Sherman won the girls’ title and Horizon Christian tied with Mitchell-Spray for first in the boys’ standings in the Oregon Class 1A Special District 3 Championships at South Wasco.  Myana Stock of Trout Lake and Sophie Hulke of Sherman each won a pair of events in girls’ competition, while Caleb Yuan of Horizon Christian won both boys’ races.

Isaiah Poole & Oscar Avalos of Hood River Valley won one out of three matches.

 

Oregon Class 4A Boys Tennis Tournament at Corvallis

Boys Doubles

Paul Kelly & Paul Capek of The Dalles finished fourth, winning their first two matches to reach the semi-finals before falling in their final two matches on Saturday.
