Track and Field
Shaw Burns finished second in the boys’ long jump, and Robert Wood and Francisco Solberg finished second and third, respectively, in the boys’ pole vault to highlight Hood River Valley’s effort on the first day of the Northwest Oregon Conference Track and Field Championships at Hare Field in Hillsboro. Elliot Hawley finished third in the boys’ 3,000 meters, and Simone Tillman was third in the girls’ long jump.
Columbia’s Ella Zimmerman swept the hurdles races, Jessica Polkinghorn won the shot put and finished second in the discus, and the Bruins’ four by 100 meter relay team was victorious as CHS finished fourth in the girls’ competition at the Southwest Washington Class 1A District Championships at Seton Catholic. Stevenson’s Hudson Holzauer won the boys’ discus.
Baseball
The Dalles 2, Banks 1: The Riverhawks scored both of their runs in the third inning, as Diego Gonzalez contributed an RBI double, then Finley Corbin came on to get the last two outs in the seventh inning with the tying run at second base.
Softball
The Dalles 2, Glencoe 1: Kennedy Abbas pitched a five-hitter, striking out 14 to make a two-run first inning for the Riverhawks stand up.
