Oregon Class 1A Championships at Hayward Field

Sherman’s Sophie Hulke and Trout Lake’s Sawyer Dean scored individual victories in day one of the state 1A meet in Eugene.  Hulke won the girls’ discus with a toss of 119’ 4”.  Dean took first in the boys’ pole vault, clearing 14’ 6 ¼”.  Other Columbia Gorge area placers included Trout Lake’ Jayden Kusky finishing third and Klickitat’s Austin Fink fourth in the boys’ shot put, Trout Lake’s Melody Stock took fourth and Myana Stock eighth in the girls’ 3,000 meters, South Wasco’s Bailey Udey was sixth in the girls’ long jump, Horizon Christian’s Hannah Adams took sixth in the girls’ high jump, Trout Lake’s Caleb Caldwell was seventh in the boys’ 3000 meters, and Dufur’s Hayley Peterson eight in the girls’ shot put.n The final day of the meet is today.

 

Southwest Washington Class 1A District Championships

Columbia’s Jessica Polkinghorn and Saylor Hague won two events apiece.  Polkinghorn took first in the girls’ shot put and discus, while Hague took top honors in the girls’ 300 meter hurdles and the high jump.  In the boys’ competition, August Lorincz of Columbia won the 400 meters, Stevenson’s Hudson Holzauer was first in the discus, and Tucker Wyninger won the pole vault.
