Klickitat County Still Waiting To Move Dispatch To New Home

Klickitat County officials are trying to sort through a labyrinth of companies to get its new emergency dispatch center in Goldendale fully functioning.  Emergency dispatchers are still working out of the County Courthouse, as the connection between the County’s new 9-1-1 center and CenturyLink’s statewide emergency lines still has not been established.  County Commissioner Rex Johnston says there are three other companies involved in this process, and County officials are frustrated by the lack of action.  Johnston says one problem is a lack of teeth in the contract put together by the state of Washington, which apparently does not include fiscal penalties for work being delayed.
