Klickitat County Commissioners are moving ahead with plans to have their planning department assist residents in the National Scenic Area with land use applications to the Columbia River Gorge Commission. Commissioner David Sauter says a resolution laying out the plan to help the residents prepare their application and providing a draft staff report to Gorge Commission planners was approved. He notes the Gorge Commission can use that information if they so choose, but Klickitat County hopes as professional trust develops it will be incorporated into reports and permits are turned around faster. Sauter did say another issue to deal with is what to do about Klickitat County residents whose permits with the Gorge Commission are already in line, and how to speed up the process for them.
