HR County Gives Input On Wildfire Risk Maps

Hood River County received an opportunity recently to give the Oregon Department of Forestry some guidance on irrigated orchard lands that had not been recognized as such during work on wildfire risk maps.  County Administrator Jeff Hecksel says County Planner Eric Walker and GIS Coordinator Jake Edwards were able to use the county’s irrigation district maps and overlay them onto lands the state was assuming were high fire risk.  County Commission Chair Jennifer Euwer said the state was open to making the changes as it continues development of the map.
