There will be a hearing Thursday on a lawsuit filed by four Wasco County residents who claim holding Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees at the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility in The Dalles violates state law. Attorneys for both parties are seeking a summary judgement, asking Circuit Court Judge John Wolf to make a decision based on evidence already submitted and legal arguments before the bench. The plaintiffs claim Oregon’s “sanctuary law” prohibits NORCOR from contracting with ICE to hold persons awaiting rulings on federal immigration cases. Protesters have held numerous rallies in front of the NORCOR facility over the past two years over NORCOR’s relationship with ICE. The hearing will take place Thursday at 1:30 in the Wasco County Courthouse.
