Hanel Site Fill Collection Nearly Complete

Work to collect fill material from the log pond at the Lower Hanel Mill site is nearly complete.  Port of Hood River Executive Director Michael McElwee says the material was being moved to the Ken Jernstedt Airfield and distributed over much of the east end of the airport, and the ground it had been on has been leveled.  That sets the stage for marketing of the property.  McElwee notes the Port has a memorandum of understanding to sell a lot on the Lower Hanel Mill property to Neal Creek Forest Products, and is optimistic the rest of the land fairly soon thereafter will be developed.  The property is 12-and-a-half acres in size.
