A fire that started in an unattached garage Monday morning caused significant damage to a home at 3636 Mud Valley Road in Odell. Wy’east Fire District Chief Greg Borton says the garage was fully involved when crews arrived, and the fire went into the residence and did significant damage to the interior of the house. He says firefighters were able to save some important papers and valuables that were inside the house. He added one dog was recovered, but two dogs and a cat remain missing. There were no injuries, with Borton noting the homeowners were not there at the time of the fire, which occurred around 9:30 a.m. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Wy’east, Parkdale, and Hood River firefighters responded to the location.
