Crews Friday morning battled a house fire in Hood River. The fire occurred in a house on 803 9th Street at around 8:30 a.m., sending up a plume of smoke that could be seen around the town. Hood River Fire Chief Devon Wells said the investigation into the fire is continuing, but at this point it appears to be electrical in nature. He noted much of the fire suppression work done this morning was defensive in nature in a neighborhood with only narrow spaces between structures, and was centered on the attic of the home. Wells says the half of the home was destroyed. Fire crews from Pine Grove/Odell, Westside, Cascade Locks, Klickitat County, and Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue joined City of Hood River personnel at the scene.
