A fire Tuesday afternoon burned an apartment at Cherry Blossom Apartments in The Dalles. According to Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue, crews arrived at the scene just after 5:20 p.m. to find black smoke coming from a room in a first story apartment. The Dalles Police evacuated the apartments and firefighters were able to quickly suppress the fire, keeping it from spreading to other apartments. The occupant of the apartment was evaluated by paramedics on scene, and then released. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Dallesport-Murdock firefighters also responded to the location.
