Eugene Man Interviewed About Suspicious Letters And Released

Police have interviewed a 34-year-old Eugene man in regard to letters various government offices in Oregon received on Monday that had some concerned they may be contaminated with hazardous materials.  Oregon State Police Public Information Officer Bill Fugate said Lance T. Storm was forthcoming and eager to discuss the letters he mailed, telling investigators the communications were not intended to cause alarm and denying the inclusion of harmful substances.  Preliminary testing by hazardous material teams could not detect any harmful substances.  Fugate says Storm was not perceived by officers to be a threat to the community, and was released.  Reports are being forwarded to district attorney offices around Oregon for consideration of charges.  Wasco and Hood River County Sheriff’s offices were among those that received the letters.
