Hood River Valley meets Liberty for the Oregon Class 5A Championship on Saturday afternoon at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer. The Eagles are 21-8 on the year after Tuesday’s dramatic eight-inning 1-0 semi-final win over Pendleton, while the Falcons are 26-2 after needing 14 innings to get by Summit in their semi 2-1. HRV has relied on its pitching and defense throughout the post-season, with Ryan Ward and Kam Walker combining to throw 22 consecutive scoreless innings. Liberty had been explosive in the early part of the post-season before being nearly shutdown in the Summit game, scoring 29 runs in its first two post-season contests. The Eagles were ranked seventh in the final OSAA Class 5-A rankings, while Liberty was number one. Game time Saturday is at 1:30 p.m., with coverage starting at 1:10 on KIHR AM 1340 and 98.3 FM. Online coverage is available on the OSAA Radio Network.
