County officials around the state will be watching what kind of cuts will come from the Oregon Legislature during the 2017 session in the wake of the resounding defeat of Measure 97. Hood River County Commission Chair Ron Rivers says the state budget numbers show there will have to be cuts, but what those would be is difficult to project, noting they have been down this road before, adding he’s concerned about receiving more unfunded mandates. Rivers notes state budget issues will be front and center at the upcoming Association of Oregon Counties meeting. He also said he doesn’t foresee any changes in federal funds the County receives as the result of the presidential election.
