Columbia Cascade Housing Pulls Plug On Morrison Park Development

Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation announced Monday afternoon that it is terminating existing agreements and discontinuing efforts towards an affordable housing project in Hood River’s Morrison Park, otherwise known as Lot 700.  The not-for-profit affordable housing developer released a written statement saying that while it had worked since the Hood River City Council rezoned the property for the project to develop 65 units just over two years ago…the agency had not been successful in securing the necessary funding to advance in the face of legal opposition.to the project.  The Council’s latest affirmation of a zone change is currently before the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals.  CCHC Board President Scott Clements said in the statement that the organization knows “we put our best foot forward in our partnership with the City and Mid-Columbia Housing Authority” on the project, and they remained committed to dealing with the region’s affordable housing challenges, with the decision allowing the group to redirect efforts toward other developments better position to advance that mission.
