Cleanup In The Dalles Has New Home

The 27th annual Community Cleanup in The Dalles take place Saturday, and it is headquartered at a new location.  With demolition taking place at former National Guard Armory site, the cleanup moves to the old Wasco County Public Works shop at 10th and Walnut.  Clean-up organizer Cindy Keever says motorists should approach the site from 10th, turn right on Walnut, and volunteers will then direct people in.  Residents of The Dalles are allowed to dump for free two pickup loads of debris.  Tires, appliances with freon, haz-mat materials, and kitchen type garbage is not accepted.  There is a re-use area to place unwanted usable items.  The cleanup site will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.  Information before the event is available by calling The Dalles Public Works at 541-296-5401 extension 0, and during the cleanup call 541-288-6762.
