Columbia Gorge CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, could use more volunteers to help reduce a backlog of cases in Hood River, Wasco, and Sherman counties. CASA volunteers get to know the stories of children who are in the court system due to abuse and neglect, and make reports to judges to provide a fuller picture of what is happening in the child’s life. CASA Program Coordinator Leah Campbell says advocates act as the eyes and the ears of the judges. To learn about how to become an advocate, go to columbiagorgecasa.org.
