Camas Man Injured In Motorcycle/Pickup Accident

A 43-year-old Camas man was injured when the motorcycle he was riding was hit from behind by a pickup truck Saturday afternoon on Highway 14 west of Beacon Rock.  According to the Washington State Patrol, Himar Van Der Kooij had slowed his motorcycle because ducks were crossing the highway near milepost 32.  The pickup, driven by a 43-year-old Stevenson man, was unable to slow down in time to avoid striking the motorcycle from behind, ejecting Van Der Kooij from it.  Van Der Kooij was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver with unspecified injuries.  The accident occurred at around 12:10 p.m. Saturday.
