Bridge Replacement Doesn’t Receive Federal Grant In First Attempt

The first attempt by the Port of Hood River and Klickitat County at a $195 million federal transportation grant for replacement of the Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge has not resulted in an award.  Incoming Port of Hood River Executive Director Kevin Greenwood says they learned late last week they would not receive monies in the first round of funding resulting from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.  But Greenwood notes their application is in the running for two other federal grants.  In addition, Greenwood says there will be another round of intermodal grants expected to become available this spring, and the bridge project will again make an application.
