With the 2020 election in the rear view mirror for many people, Hood River County continues to look at how to establish a ballot drop box somewhere in the mid or upper Hood River Valley. The County had received request from some citizens prior to the just concluded election to get a new drop box established, but County Administrator Jeff Hecksel noted the security needs for such a box made it difficult to quickly put a location together, especially a temporary one. That is a less of an issue if they acquire a permanent box. Hecksel says the Records and Assessment Department has applied for a grant to purchase a new box.
