The Hood River County Christmas Project is getting ramped up for its 94th year of helping those in need. The project provides food and toys to over 500 low-income families during the Christmas holiday. Project coordinator Bruce Holmson says they try to provide more than just a Christmas meal, with canned goods and other household items included in a box. Those who would like to contribute to or volunteer to help with the Christmas Project can go to hoodrivercountychristmasproject.com. Sign-ups to receive boxes begin on Friday, November 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Department of Human Services office at 1610 9th Court in Hood River. The 20th annual Gala Fashion Show to raise funds for the Christmas Project will be November 17 at the Best Western Hood River Inn Gorge Room. Tickets are $25, and available at Hood River fashion shops.
