Meriwether To Retire

Hood River County Administrator David Meriwether has told County Commissioners he intends to retire at the end of June 2016.  Commission Chair Ron Rivers says Meriwether submitted his retirement plan to the Commission, with a date of June 30, 2016.  Rivers has a close relationship with Meriwether, who has been in the job for 14 years, and said they had talked about this possibility for some time, but added he didn’t necessarily expect the retirement plan to come at this time.  Rivers says the advance notice gives the Commission plenty of time to conduct a search for a new administrator, adding he hopes for applicants from this area.  Meriwether is currently on vacation and was not available for comment.
