The Hood River County School District Board of Directors approved the hiring of Amy McConnell as the permanent executive director of curriculum and instruction. McConnell has been in the position on an interim basis during the current school year. McConnell was previously the assistant director of curriculum and instruction, Westside Elementary School’s vice principal, the district’s migrant summer school assistant director, and a learning specialist at May Street Elementary School. She also taught kindergarten and third grade in the Jefferson County School District. McConnell earned a Master of Education in education administration from Concordia University and a Bachelor of Science in education from Western Michigan University, majoring in special education and elementary social studies.
