Bonham Tabbed As Senate Republican Leader

Oregon State 26th District Senator Daniel Bonham of The Dalles has been tabbed as the new Senate Republican Leader.  Bonham will take over for Tim Knopp of Bend, effective on April 15.  Knopp cannot run for re-election in November.  He and five other GOP Senators whose terms are up at the end of 2024 were disqualified from the November ballot when the Oregon Supreme Court upheld Measure 113, approved by voters in 2022 to dissuade lawmaker walkouts, which Republican Senators did the following year.  Bonham’s term runs through the end of 2026, and he ineligible to seek re-election at that time.  Bonham was elected to the Senate in 2023, after serving six years in the Oregon House.
