Firefighters Contain Structural Blaze In Goldendale

Firefighters were able to contain a late Monday night fire at Café Genevieve’s on South Columbus and East Court in Goldendale to the southside of the building.  A statement from the Goldendale Fire Department indicates the main progression of the fire was knocked down within a short period of time, but work efforts extended well into Tuesday morning.  The fire extended through the walls and ceiling but was contained to the southside of the building, while smoke did extend throughout the structure.  Goldendale Fire Chief Noah Halm credited the quick fire extinguishment to engine crews arriving on scene within six minutes of the call being paged by emergency dispatchers.  The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
