Hood River Urban Renewal To Review Governance Structure

The Hood River Urban Renewal Agency Board has given new URA administrator Will Norris the go-ahead to begin a phased review of the governance, by-laws, and administration of the agency.  The last major restructuring was in 2012, when the City Council along with two Port of Hood River Commission members became the URA board.  But with the downtown urban renewal district finished, the waterfront district winding down, the Heights district increasing activity, and the Westside district starting up, Norris noted it was a good time to revisit the structure.  Councilor Grant Polson said he’d like to see other governmental agencies involved in the urban renewal process as a collaborative group, but not necessarily at the board level.  URA board member and Port Commissioner Heather Gehring noted once the waterfront district is wrapped up, there might not be a need for two Port members on the board.
