A full-sized truck hooked up to a boat trailer was pulled out of the Columbia River just east of Hood River on Wednesday. According to the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office, its dive rescue and recovery team went to the scene at the In-Lieu fishing site at Interstate 84 milepost 66 at the request of Columbia River Inter-Tribal Enforcement. Divers located the truck and trailer in about 17 feet of water, covered in milfoil. Once they were removed by Guzman Brothers Tow Company of Hood River, it was verified no occupants were inside. The Sheriff’s Office said the original report of the submerged truck indicated the occupants were able to make it to shore before the vehicle sank, but that information had not been verified. Intertribal Fisheries Officers will be conducting a follow up investigation.
