The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will hold a public meeting Thursday in Goldendale to gather feedback on a draft management plan for the Department’s Simcoe Mountains Unit, located in the Klickitat Wildlife Area. WDFW says the plan will help to guide public access and outdoor recreation, habitat enhancements, and forest and range management, among other elements, for the Simcoe Mountains Unit, which consists of 10,314 acres of working forest and rangeland in eastern Klickitat County southeast of Mt. Adams. The plan will be an addendum to the Klickitat Wildlife Area Plan, which is updated every 10 years. The Eastern and Central Klickitat Conservation Districts, Yakama Nation, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Klickitat County, Western Pacific Timber, Columbia Land Trust, WDFW, grazing permittees, neighboring landowners, and representatives of local outdoor recreation partners have taken part in developing the plan. The meeting will be from 3 to 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Klickitat County Services Building on 115 West Court Street in Goldendale.
