Fire Near Highway 197 Burns 25 Acres

A fire east of The Dalles near Highway 197 between milepost two and four on Tuesday afternoon burned 25 acres.  The Old Dufur Road Fire was reported to Wasco County Dispatch just before 1 p.m.  Fire personnel used a small burnout to reach 100% contained.  It was fully lined and contained shortly after 5 p.m.  The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.  There were no evacuations and no structures affected.  Responding agencies included the Columbia Rural Fire Protection District, Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue, the Dallesport Fire Department, the Oregon Department of Forestry, and Forest Service crews from the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
