The latest figures from The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce showed that lodging stays last summer were back to the levels seen in 2019, and even a bit higher than that. The figures were presented last week to The Dalles City Council. Chamber CEO Lisa Farquharson says she was surprised by the results, but she says it is great for the community, adding it leads to dollars being spent in The Dalles. Farquaharson says the visitors who came in 2021 were tired of being pent up rather than coming for a specific purpose, in particular Portlanders looking for a quick getaway.
