Hood River County will have a codes enforcement officer in place by October 1. County Commissioners included the new position in their budget for the current fiscal year, feeling a number of land uses in unincorporated areas of the county are not properly permitted or simply illegal. County Administrator David Meriwether says they have a backlog of reports of these types of situations for the new codes enforcement officer to investigate. Meriwether says the new position will be tasked with either getting those uses into compliance, or getting them to alter or cease operations.
