Walden Opposes Internet Bill Calling For FCC Oversight

Oregon Second District Congressman Greg Walden opposed a Democrat bill that would regulate the internet under Title II of the Communications Act, which was originally used to govern monopoly telephone companies in the 1930s and were first implemented by the Federal Communications Commission in 2015.  The Hood River Republican said Republicans and Democrats agree more than they disagree on net neutrality, but he feels this bill would not help preserve a free and open internet, but instead put regulation in the hands of “unelected bureaucrats.”  The bill passed the House, but is likely to not get through the Republican-controlled Senate.
